Summer Sausage 2006

Greetings Humans, and other conscious entities.

The epic 12 song debut Slydini CD nears completion.   It's been too long since we've recorded this material to not have it out there.   We are close to finishing mixing on our remaining nine songs working with Steve Orlando. We have already completed mixing three songs with Myles Boisen.

This release will be a full length CD!  Stay tuned for a CD release concert to be announced in the near future.   In the mean time check here for the latest gigs and news of all things magical.

Jan 2006

Thanks everyone for the big turnout last Thursday January 5th at the Starry Plough gig. It was packed and we enjoyed the opening performance by Dave Grossman's (unpronounceable) project, band, or whatever-you-call-it. Slydini hit the stage at around 10:45, opening with our usual Ded X. We played several of our faster numbers and the crowded seemed to really respond to Vicky's surf rock tune helicopter card. It must have been the disjunct hits of that surf ditty in 15/8. it was hot up there; I think we all broke a sweat. We had to cut out serveral tunes from our set because it was getting late. Next gig we swear we'll do it without music stands!

Speaking of gigs our next performance is Friday Feb 3rd at Jupiter in Downtown Berkeley, 2181 Shattuck Avenue; we will play three sets and start around 8 pm, and guess what it's FREE. Let us entertain you while you have pizza and beer. Yummy.

December 2005

We have a dump truck full of work to do on finishing up our debut album: cleanups, overdubs, mixing, mastering, as well as graphic design. You know the drill, too much work, but we're ready for the challenge. If we work like dogs, we should have something ready to go by the new year.

In the meantime our next performance is
Thursday, January 5 , @ Starry Plough , in Berkeley, CA, playing with Savant Garde and Unpronounceable, showtime will commence around 9pm.

November 2005

October provided a series of gigs by which we proceeded to rock it to Russia.   On other gigs, our stalwart saxophonist John Ingle recently played an excellent performance of Terry Riley's "Dorian Reeds", at the Terry Riley concert at Mills College.   What a show!   The piano Etudes were also incredible!

We are currently recording the second half of our debut full-length album in early November 2005.   We'll be locked in with Eli Crews at the control board, at his New and Improved Recordings.   Here is a little taste of what were up to, check out Vicky's twisted surf inspired ditty, called " Helicopter Card", named after Tony Slydini's card trick.

October 2005

Thanks to our friends, *oops* I mean fans, for your support at our most recent performances. We just finished up playing Cafe Van Kleef and we're always pleased with this place, Sharpening up our tunes for recording in November! Thanks to Eli, Jen, Kenton, Patricia, Minette, Jeremey, Caroline, Moe!, Justin, Peter VanKleef and all the rest of you all. I think we actually made the audience dance and talk balk, yes! Very cool vinatge Steely Dan playing between sets.

We are hard at work mixing about 6 songs we recorded this summer, and will be back in the studio to record more in November. Look for new samples posted here soon.

September 2005

Welcome again dear friends. As you can see above, a series of gigs are coming in late September and early October. Notably, we are playing our favorite spot here in OakTown, Cafe VanCleef, a cozy funky hipster little bar on Thursday September 29th.

The summer has once again breezed by, John spent a month in Brasil, and returned with some old school choro song books and hand made gourd percussion instruments. Vicky was just in NYC playing at the John Zorn club The Stone, in the latest incarnation of Moekestra!

The recording session in June was an auspicious endeavor, from that recording we have about 6 songs that we are currently mixing. Oh the joys of mixing!

We are slated to get back in the studio and finish up recording in early November. By that time we WILL have enough material for our first full length album. Some new samples of these sessions will be posted here soon.

Slydini now has a MySpace account you can reach it at http://www.myspace.com/slydini - please let's be virtutal friends. Ok I've been through friendster and tribe, but myspace is totally addictive! But shucks, I can't seem to get the goddam audiofiles to load on their stupid site. Screw the virtual worlds, please just come and see us live!!!

July 2005

Thanks for all your support at our latest gig at Cafe Van Cleef! It was great to play at this unique venue.

In early June 2005 we are slated to hit the studio to lay down the tracks on eight tunes. We have whopping three sets of original material, and it’s about time we committed these tunes to a recording media of one type or another. We’re going to rock it to Russia at New Improved Recording Studios with Eli Crews and John Finkbeiner, in Oaktown.

As for the rest of the summer we’re taking a mini hiatus on the gig scene as we travel around to NYC and Brazil, and get our act together in the studio.

In other projects we’re all staying active in a few groups – Beth Custer, Will Bernard, Moe!kestra, Sfsound, Inner Ear Brigade, and some psychedelic video sound performances! … we’ll keep ya all posted with the latest developments with some smelly spam in your in box.
